Solving the complex and often longstanding issues that have driven 55 years of violence in Colombia – or any of the other 50 armed conflicts currently vexing the world – is not a simple endeavor. Yet while the challenges are many, so too are local perspectives that offer potent insights on how to best confront conflict and better promote peace.
In first highlighting rural Colombia, this section will increasingly outline community-based recommendations gleaned during our wider discussions to best confront many of the common challenges perpetuating conflict. As highlighted by this bus terminal-turned movie theater commandeered to cultivate discussions on violence in Cauca, there are many unique and often unexpected ways to reframe discussions on conflict. We look forward to helping expand this conversation, and will feature subsequent recommendations here as they are endorsed by relevant local communities.
